Christmas Bonus for the Nanny?

We have been getting many calls at The Nanny Connection asking advice on what to give the nanny for Christmas. Although there is no set rule, there is some standard advice I can offer having been in this industry for many years. Typically, nannies most appreciate a cash bonus at Christmas time. This is usually one to two weeks of their salary. It can be up to a month's salary if the nanny has been with the family for more then a year.

If you'd like to give a more personal gift, I have a few to suggest:
Salon/spa gift certificates
gym memberships
gift certificates to her favorite clothing store
Ipads, Kindles, Ipods w/Itunes gift cards

If you'd like to include something personal along with the bonus:
A framed picture of the nanny with the children
A scrapbook with pictures of the children and/or drawn by the children
Ornaments made by the Children
A poem or story about why you love your nanny!

Hope this helps and have a Merry Christmas!!!

Welcome to The Nanny Connection Blog

Well...here goes! In an attempt to stay current and allow you to think I'm way cooler then I actually am...I've created my first blog!

I have owned The Nanny Connection in Hudson, Ohio for going on 4 years now and love what I do! We find full-time, part-time and temporary nannies for families in North East Ohio and now in the Columbus area. We can help with all your household staffing needs, including eldercare, housekeeping, personal chefs, and more. One of our most popular services is our on-call babysitting service.

In addition to being a former nanny myself, I have a Masters Degree in Early Chilhood Education and am the mother of two. I have taught grades 1 through 3 as well as preschool using various teaching methods in Montessori, Reggio, and Social Constructivist classrooms.

I hope to bring you interesting articles about finding and keeping nannies, child raising, choosing preschools and more. And yes...I'll even include my own advice (take it or leave it!) Most importantly, I want this blog to be interactive and I would love everyone to participate through questions and comments.

I look forward to "blogging" with you all!
